Mechanics: The restoration work began with the lowering, using a special crane, the five bells and transportation to our company for the execution of the restoration. Specifically, the first phase included the cleaning of all the bells sweet blasting through non-invasive technique.
Because of the extreme hardness of the old clappers, wherein all the bells presented of very worn abutment points (more than 10% of the thickness of the abutment of the bell caliper), it is proceeded with the replacement of the same with new hand-forged , according to the traditional technique, complete with double safety cord.
The five strains are completely disassembled and overhauled, subsequently, they are subjected to a thorough cleaning by sandblasting and finally painted with high enamel protection.
The five wheels are subjected to modification in order to be adapted to the chains. Even for the wheels proceed with sandblasting intervention for their cleaning and subsequent coating with a special paint.
Four of the lower bells (IV, V, VI and VIII) presented themselves very unstable in the isolator component, with a significant risk of integrity and security.
The insulators, very worn out, they are replaced in order to ensure the integrity and safety of these bells. New insulators are composed of seasoned top quality oak, to which must be added the entire supporting hardware.
the castellatura also support the bells it has been subjected to a thorough review. Indeed, it appeared with a strong oxidation due to poor maintenance carried out over the years and the ravages of time and the guano deposited on the same. Removing the top layers of dirt and acting with brushes and manual grinding wheels for the removal of oxidation layers, it is shown the structure to a new life, ending with the operations of painting operation with a high power passivation oxide micaceous iron in the shade chosen by the customer, with a natural wax finish.
All mechanical components are reassembled at the end of works using a special crane.
